Daughter calls on Rockstar to let her terminally ill father play GTA VI before release
The development of Grand Theft Auto VI has taken many years, and the release date has been changed several times. Now the release is scheduled for November 19, 2026, but some fans of the franchise risk not living to see that moment.
Recently, a girl under the nickname lexakommurry published an appeal to Rockstar Games. She said that her father is a long-time GTA fan and has spent thousands of hours playing the games. He was very much looking forward to the release of the sixth installment and specifically bought a PlayStation 5 console to play it when it comes out.
However, lexakommurry explains, he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, and doctors predict he has only a few weeks left to live. She would like the developers to give her father the opportunity to play Grand Theft Auto VI.
We are ready to provide confirmation of the number of hours he spent in the game, his diagnosis, and also sign a non-disclosure agreement or any other necessary legal documents. He is a wonderful person and a great father. I really want to give him the opportunity to play what he has been waiting for years, before he passes away. This would also help him — and us — to distract ourselves, if only for a short while, as time inexorably runs out.
Rockstar Games has previously provided early access to its games for terminally ill gamers. For example, eight years ago, Jurian was able to experience Red Dead Redemption 2 before its official launch.
