Switch 2 owners can try out the SHIFT UP game for free before purchasing. However, to launch on the hybrid console, developers had to make compromises in the quality of shadows, reflections, textures, and environmental detail. In some scenes, shadows look worse even compared to the PS5 performance mode.
Reflections are the most heavily cut, especially noticeable on water. Switch 2 also removes some vegetation and environmental objects earlier, and the reduced texture quality makes some locations less detailed.
At the same time, Stellar Blade on Switch 2 aims for 1080p and 60 FPS in docked mode and 720p and 60 FPS in handheld mode. The exact internal resolution is unknown.
60 FPS is achieved using Frame Generation, and the image is further scaled. The upscaling technology is not officially named, although the comparison suggests the use of DLSS. Smoothness is also not ideal – there are frame drops and uneven frametime.
