Monster Hunter Wilds will get a more complex endgame - developers took player experience into account
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will feature Master Ranks and a challenging endgame. Capcom aims to balance an accessible story with challenges for experienced players.
The director of the expansion, Takuro Hiraoka, admitted that balancing difficulty is one of the most challenging tasks. According to him, the base Monster Hunter Wilds was made accessible enough for players to complete the story, but the audience turned out to be much more experienced than the developers expected.
In my opinion, this is how the Wilds difficulty curve should be, and I think we achieved that, but players turned out to be so good and experienced. We had a bit of an expectation gap. Perhaps over the years, players have become better than we anticipated.
In Ascendance, the developers want to satisfy both categories of players and not focus “only on the most hardcore.” The story should remain accessible, and the most serious challenges will be concentrated in the endgame.
The developers have not yet revealed the details of the endgame. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will be released in 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
