Sony has patented an AI-based system that can automatically identify problems in devices, diagnose them, and install software fixes without user intervention.
The technology is designed not only for PlayStation but for the entire Sony ecosystem, including TVs, smartphones, headphones, and other home devices. The AI should constantly interact with the cloud and react to emerging malfunctions even before the user notices them.
The system independently identifies the problem, searches for its cause, generates code for correction if necessary, and sends it to the device. The user will not have to contact support or install updates manually.
However, the technology creates serious security risks: an erroneous software fix may not eliminate the problem but lead to a more serious failure. Errors in power supply or temperature control systems can be especially dangerous.
The patent was filed by Sony in March 2025 and published in September 2026. The document does not mean that the technology will appear in PlayStation or other company devices.
