A few months ago, Rocket Cars, a car football game in the spirit of the popular Rocket League, was released on PC on Steam. It is a learning project by a developer under the nickname GenKAKR.
Recently, he posted an announcement in the game's Steam community and stated that he plans to remove Rocket Cars from the Valve store soon:
I released the game in May as a free learning project, it's a tech demo. Now I want to clean up my developer profile to focus on developing a new game I'm working on. Also, given how easily AI can generate such simple demo projects today, keeping the game on Steam no longer makes much sense.
The Rocket Cars page on Steam is available at the following link. The game is available for free — just click the “Add to Library” button, no download required. GenKAKR noted that owners of the game will retain access to it in their library. The source code for the “NetickRocketCars” project is available on GitHub.
Meanwhile, Rocket League continues to evolve. Recently, the Psyonix studio team published a new video and showed a selection of gameplay footage from the version on the modern Unreal Engine 6.
