Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled for release on September 24 on PC and PlayStation 5 consoles, but the game has already been hacked and leaked online. This was made possible by premium access: the new KONAMI franchise title joined the list of games that received a special edition allowing players to play several days earlier.
Hackers from RUNE noticed the early release of Silent Hill: Townfall and promptly bypassed its protection. The hackers reported that the standard Steam solution was used as DRM (they have long found a way around it).
As part of the premium early access, Steam users can already write reviews for Silent Hill: Townfall. The game started with “very positive” reviews: an 83% rating. On the Metacritic aggregator, the new title has a rating of 81 out of 100 points after more than fifty reviews.
Silent Hill: Townfall is positioned as a standalone full-length psychological horror. The game's events unfold on an isolated island in 1996: the main character explores the town and tries to understand his connection to this place and its inhabitants.
