The new map resembles hand-drawn fantasy maps from classic books and stories. At the same time, the location of key places has remained practically unchanged compared to the original for Nintendo 64.
Hyrule Field remains in the center, surrounded by Hyrule Castle, Kokiri Forest, Lost Woods, Lake Hylia, Gerudo Valley, Death Mountain, Zora’s Domain, and Lon Lon Ranch.
This is important because the remake does not involve a complete change of the world. Nintendo rebuilt the game technically on a new engine, retaining many elements of the original design, including the structure of locations and their placement.
