Bethesda will not interfere with Obsidian's work: studios given freedom for new Fallout

The new Fallout from Obsidian will give the studio a significant role in development, with Bethesda promising to maintain its creative independence and familiar style.

Obsidian Entertainment's transition under Bethesda's wing as part of Xbox's restructuring raised concerns that the creators of Fallout: New Vegas would be turned into mere contractors. Bethesda President Jill Braff assured employees that Obsidian's unique style would remain unchanged.

Obsidian's leadership, headed by CEO Feargus Urquhart, will continue to directly manage the team, formally reporting to Braff. Bethesda Game Studios will retain overall control over the integrity of the Fallout brand.

This format is intended to combine the strengths of both studios and allow Obsidian to retain responsibility for its own contribution. Braff emphasized that the corporation wants to focus on major franchises while preserving creative freedom for developers.
