New gameplay for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV showed the Maelstrom mode on high difficulty, where AI-controlled Orks, due to numerical superiority, quickly forced the Space Marines into a defensive position.
In Maelstrom, players collect and destroy dynamically appearing objectives, which forces constant tactical changes. In the shown match, even two game creators were not enough to cope with the Orks on high difficulty.
The unpredictability of the battlefield looks especially interesting: changing objectives and constant enemy pressure make each battle chaotic. The developers also previously showed Necrons in battle mode.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV will be released on December 3, 2026, on PC.
