Players started to feel sick from Silent Hill: Townfall, but the reason is not the game's quality
The horror game caused an unexpected effect and now players are experimenting with settings.
Silent Hill: Townfall was recently released on PC and consoles. The new game in the franchise received “mostly positive” reviews, with a rating of 72%. Many were satisfied with the project from Screen Burn studio, but some noted a specific problem — the horror game causes nausea.
A user under the nickname iNightfarer reported this problem and started a discussion:
I'm used to playing first-person and I really love such games. I even played through all of Resident Evil Requiem in first-person. I don't understand why exactly in Silent Hill: Townfall I start to get motion sickness [nausea and dizziness]. I turned off head bob and motion blur, and also cranked the field of view (FOV) to maximum, but the problem remained. For reference: I'm playing the PlayStation Pro version on a 32-inch OLED monitor. I would be very grateful for any advice.
Many associate the problem with the camera settings, which are set to “default”. The field of view is narrow, and there is also head bob and motion blur effect, which can cause such unpleasant sensations.
Community members have developed solutions that can help players who feel “sick” from Silent Hill: Townfall.
For example, you can enable the Override Field of View option.
- Turn off Letterboxing (black bars)
- Lower Aim Sensitivity to 0.5
- Also, some were helped by iNightfarer's mentioned disabling of Motion Blur and Head Bob.
- It is recommended to set Field of View to maximum.
