This past weekend, Mojang Studios held a special Minecraft Live stream. During the presentation, the developers shared their plans for the cubic sandbox game Minecraft.
The rumors were confirmed: for the first time in 15 years, Minecraft will receive a new dimension called Sift. Enemies in Minecraft Dungeons II emerge from this mysterious dimension.
The developers have not yet revealed details about the Sift dimension and have not announced the release date for the update.
Also during Minecraft Live, a new ice biome called Ice Caves was introduced — it is planned to be added in the next update.
Mojang Studios said that icicles appear in this biome, and ice crystals can be found on the ground — they can be used as decoration:
These caves are freezing, with walls and floors covered in ice and calcite. You can also find new icicles and ice crystals there. Icicles naturally grow from ceilings, and ice crystals appear on the ground, emitting a soft glow. Both will add a cold beauty to your constructions. In general, it's an ideal place to build an ice fortress or store gravel supplies at sub-zero temperatures.
A new variety of zombie has also been confirmed — there will be a frozen version of the enemy, whose attacks apply a freezing effect. They are also capable of throwing ice balls (players will be able to do this too).
The release date for the Minecraft update has not yet been announced.
