There is just over a month left until the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. The game has become a true pop culture phenomenon and has attracted the attention of not only video game fans. Expectations are further fueled by the 13-year break between the main installments of the series.
GTA VI will be released on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Given Rockstar's reputation, official materials, and leaks, many expect a new level of open world from the game, especially in terms of immersion and NPC behavior.
On the Insider Gaming podcast, Tom Henderson, Mike Straw, Albert Perkins, and GTH stated that they expect GTA 6's average score from journalists to be in the range of 83-87 points.
This is just a prediction, although for the GTA series, such a range seems unusual: since GTA III, no main installment has received less than 95 points on Metacritic. For comparison, Red Dead Redemption 2 received 97 points and had sold over 87 million copies by the end of August 2026.
