For several years, Halo has been trying to regain its position as one of the main shooter series. Halo Infinite did not meet all expectations, after which Microsoft renamed 343 Industries to Halo Studios and moved development to Unreal Engine 5.
Now, insider Tom Henderson claims that the entire Halo series is currently being rebooted. The insider did not provide additional details, so it is unknown whether this refers to a complete story reboot, a new retelling of Master Chief's story, or a change in the approach to the franchise's development.
Such a step would allow the creators to start the story anew and attract a new audience, although a complete abandonment of the previous legacy would be a serious risk. Halo helped shape the success of the first Xbox, so Halo Studios will have to preserve the key elements of the series.
