GTA VI not even in the top three: Japanese name the most anticipated games

Famitsu magazine's ranking is based on votes cast from September 2 to 8, 2026, and differs significantly from the interests of Western audiences: Japanese RPGs and games for Nintendo Switch 2 dominate the top ten.

Pokémon Winds/Waves retained first place, followed by Persona 6 and a new version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, while Persona 4 Revival took fourth position. GTA VI was only sixth, also losing to Final Fantasy VII Revelation.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Metaphor: ReFantazio made it onto the list for the first time, although it has not yet entered the top five. Changes are possible in the next ranking after Nintendo Direct: games presented during the broadcast may enter the top ten.
