The Coalition is preparing the series prequel, Gears of War: E-Day, for release, and Premium Edition owners will be able to start playing on October 1. Reviews of the game will also be released on this day at 4:00 PM Moscow time.
The events of Gears of War: E-Day begin on Emergence Day, the day the Locust first appeared, and tell the story of Marcus Fenix and Bravo Squad as they defend Kalona from the Locust. The campaign is estimated to be around 14 hours long, and as players progress, the scale of the conflict will become more apparent.
The game has added sliding, vaulting over obstacles to bypass enemies, weapon modifications, and new active reload mechanics, while the signature wall bounces have been removed. New multiplayer modes include Demolition and Crucible, and Horde has received a Siege mode for 12 players. The game also requires a graphics card with hardware ray tracing support.
