On September 29, 2026, the cult role-playing game Gothic II Classic will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles. GamesVoice studio announced that one of the features of this release is a refined and corrected Russian localization.
The GamesVoice community reported that this work turned out to be so extensive that the localizers "made a whole film about it". In the published video, project participants and Alkimia Interactive community manager talked about the work and demonstrated how Gothic II has been transformed.
Changes affected terminology: names of equipment, weapons, items, etc. were brought to a unified style and checked against the original. For some characters, lines were re-recorded and various errors in the localization were corrected.
This summer, the remake of Gothic 1 Remake was released on PC and consoles. Alkimia Interactive studio successfully brought back the classic in a new format: the project received "very positive" reviews from players (88% rating after 40 thousand reviews). Currently, the developers continue to release technical patches for the game and are preparing a major update – they plan to add modes with alternative progression to the game (details are not yet available).
