Cosplayer Appears as Maelle from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - A Young Fencer with a Strong Character

Model MattyGrowes transported herself into the unusual and frightening world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, inspired by the Belle Époque aesthetic, to transform into the heroine Maelle.

Photographer Sofia Chatskaya decided to cheer up fans of the role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, who are awaiting the release of a new project from Sandfall Interactive.

She published photos in which cosplayer MattyGrowes appeared as Maelle.

Maelle is a girl with expressive blue eyes and bright red hair, which emphasize her rebellious nature. As a weapon, she uses an elegant rapier, and her fighting style is based on agile fencing, quick stance changes, and destructive magic. 

Due to her difficult character, Maelle spent a long time moving between foster families until Gustave took her in, becoming both a caring older brother and a father to her. 

The girl turned out to be the youngest participant in the Thirty-Third Expedition, joining the dangerous journey to explore the world beyond Lumiere and find her own destiny.

Maelle's character combines traits of a reclusive loner and a free-spirited teenager. Due to a difficult childhood, it is incredibly hard for her to get close to others and trust people, but for the sake of her adoptive family, she is ready to make any sacrifices. She possesses a sharp mind, loves to make witty and ironic remarks, and harbors immense inner strength, ready to ignite at the right moment.

Maelle is interesting because her motivation fundamentally differs from the goals of the other squad members. While other expedition members strive to save Lumiere from destruction, Maelle sees this journey as the only chance to break free from the oppressive walls of her hometown, explore the unknown world beyond it, and finally take control of her own destiny.
