Resident Evil Breaks Records: Six Games in the Series Sold Millions of Copies Simultaneously

Resident Evil showed impressive sales: from mid-2025 to mid-2026, six games in the series each found more than 3 million buyers, including Resident Evil Requiem with 8.5 million copies sold.

According to Game File's report, no single franchise had previously achieved such a result. The main sales driver was Resident Evil Requiem, the fastest-selling installment in the series' history, with over 8.5 million copies sold.

The list of million-selling bestsellers also included remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, as well as Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village. The result of the seventh installment is particularly notable: almost 10 years after its release, it continues to attract millions of new players.

Resident Evil 7 became a turning point for the series after the lukewarm reception of Resident Evil 6. The remakes of classic installments, in turn, showed that Capcom manages to combine elements familiar to fans with modern mechanics.

In 2027, the series will continue with Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake.
