The first reviews of The Witcher 3 show that CD Projekt RED successfully updated Geralt's adventure. Reviewers particularly praise the scale of the changes: improved graphics, reworked lighting, new textures, denser vegetation, and path tracing, which noticeably enhances familiar locations on powerful PCs.
Gameplay changes have also been positively received. Geralt moves and reacts more smoothly, combat is more responsive, the camera behaves better during battles, and Roach's controls have been improved. The reworked skill tree, transmogrification, updated interface, photo mode, and mod support are also highlighted.
However, the fundamental combat system has remained almost unchanged, so the Remaster is unlikely to convince those who disliked the battles in the original. Reviewers also note occasional camera issues, interface problems, minor bugs, and the high requirements of the PC version with path tracing.
