On September 29, the remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released. CD Projekt RED is not selling the updated version of the game — it was presented as an update, meaning current owners received a free remaster.
Nevertheless, this release could help the Polish company earn a lot of money. Analysts from Polish Erste explained their forecast. They expect that the release of the free remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt “will generate great interest and, perhaps, allow the game to approach its historical record for online players on Steam.” The release of the remaster should also attract new users.
The original version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in May 2015. Since then, a couple of premium story expansions — Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine — have been released for the game, and game sales have exceeded 65 million copies.
By the end of 2026, Erste believes, cumulative sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could exceed 70 million copies, and by the time the story expansion Songs of the Past is released — about 75 million. This DLC does not yet have a specific release date: they plan to release it in 2027.
