Recently, an enthusiast under the nickname emmericp introduced a modification for Diablo II: Resurrected that allows controlling the in-game camera and viewing the world of Blizzard Entertainment's game from a different angle.
By pressing F12, you can activate the mod and adjust the zoom (with the mouse wheel), as well as drag the camera. As a result, Diablo II: Resurrected gameplay can be turned into a first-person shooter or played in third-person, by changing the angle and moving the camera behind the character.
The YouTube channel Not a Data Scientist published an example of Diablo II: Resurrected gameplay with this mod:
emmericp presented two versions of the “D2R-3D” modification: Standalone — you will need to place the .exe and .dll files directly into the Diablo II: Resurrected folder (next to D2R.exe). To activate in the game, you will need to press the F12 key.
The other “Plugin version” will create two plugins — one for camera control and the other for adjusting the drawing distance. The F12 key activates both.
The source code for the “D2R-3D” modification for Diablo II: Resurrected is publicly available on GitHub.
