Ryzen Z3: AMD is preparing a new chip specifically for gaming handhelds - rumor
AMD may create Ryzen Z3 specifically for gaming handhelds, focusing on more powerful graphics and increasing the number of GPU compute units to 12.
According to new leaks, Ryzen Z3 will be based on the Medusa Point platform, but will receive a modified configuration with six Zen 6 cores and 12 threads. At the same time, AMD will allegedly cut the CPU part for the sake of graphics.
The main change will be the GPU: Ryzen Z3 may get 12 compute units on the RDNA 4m architecture instead of eight in the standard Medusa Point. A version with 15W power consumption and a Ryzen Z3 Extreme at approximately 25W are also mentioned. Both variants may not get all 12 CUs.
RDNA 4m will be an evolution of RDNA 3.5 with individual elements of the new generation, including blocks for matrix computations. This will potentially allow the direct use of technologies like FSR 4.

The chip will allegedly receive a compact FF6 package measuring 25x25 mm. If the information is confirmed, Ryzen Z3 will become a more specialized solution for gaming handhelds like ROG Ally, rather than an adaptation of an existing platform. For now, these are just unconfirmed reports.
