The Bombora publishing house announced that pre-orders have opened for the book "Another Turn. Memoirs of the Creator of Civilization." It can currently be purchased for 1639 rubles at various outlets.
These memoirs by Sid Meier will tell how he got into computer game development and how projects that people are willing to play for hours are born from a set of rules.
The creator of Pirates!, Railroad Tycoon, and Civilization narrates in the first person and covers several decades: from early experiments on limited hardware to working with large studios, publishers, digital distribution, and mobile platforms.
Using specific examples, the author explains how an idea arises, how the first prototype is assembled, and why some concepts turn into finished projects while others remain at the draft stage.
A separate section is dedicated to changes in the gaming industry: new platforms, the growth of publishers, and how business decisions affect the release and development of projects.
Fans of Civilization will be especially interested to learn how the famous strategy was conceived and created. Aspiring and practicing developers, as well as game designers, will find explanations of mechanics and decision logic useful, based on real examples.
For those who read professional autobiographies of game creators, this book may resonate in tone with other memoirs from representatives of the gaming industry. It will also appeal to readers interested in creative business and technological development.
The release of "Another Turn. Memoirs of the Creator of Civilization" is scheduled for October 2026. Inside, users will find a gift — a wall poster with art by artist tramdrey.
