Nintendo Recalls Most Controversial Games of the 3DS and Wii U Era

Nintendo has renewed trademarks for several 3DS and Wii U era games, including fan-disliked Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Blast Ball.

Nintendo has renewed trademarks for several old games, including the fan-hated Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Metroid Prime: Blast Ball, which has sparked rumors of a possible return for these projects.

These are games for the Nintendo 3DS. Federation Force was a co-op first-person shooter in the Metroid universe with support for up to four players, while Blast Ball was a futuristic version of football with teams of three. Both games received extremely negative reactions even after their announcements, and the Blast Ball trailer became the most disliked video in Nintendo's history.

The company also renewed trademarks for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Ever Oasis. All four projects were released during the 3DS or Wii U era, with Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE later receiving an Encore version for Nintendo Switch.

The trademark renewal itself does not mean that Nintendo is preparing a remake, remaster, port, or new installment. This is standard practice for protecting the company's brands, so it is too early to talk about specific plans.
