Media: Microsoft is not giving up on cloud gaming - the Xbox offensive is just beginning
Microsoft is not going to give up on Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the service's shutdown on some Samsung TVs is due to the devices' outdated technological base, not a reduction in investment.
Starting November 3, the Xbox app will stop working on Samsung TVs from 2020. Initially, Microsoft explained this by the incompatibility of new service technologies with the old version of the operating system.
According to Windows Central sources, TVs from that period no longer receive Tizen updates, while the new version of Xbox Cloud Gaming requires modern Chromium APIs for future features related to image quality and latency.
Information about the cancellation of new controllers for Xbox Cloud Gaming has also been refuted. Microsoft continues to develop devices with built-in Wi-Fi, which should reduce latency when playing via the cloud.
At the same time, starting in November, the company will indeed introduce time limits for using cloud gaming in Game Pass, explaining them by the increasing costs of supporting the service and the need for further investment in its stability and performance.
