Activists cancel Gears of War: E-Day for collaborating with "agenda specialists" - GoW creator Cliff Bleszinski spoke out about political disputes
Now some players refuse to touch the shooter.
The full release of Gears of War: E-Day is expected on October 6, 2026. However, owners of the more expensive Premium Edition can already play the new shooter — they were given early access five days earlier.
Blogger Pirat_Nation reported that Hit Detection is mentioned in the credits of Gears of War: E-Day. In the gaming community, its employees are known as “agenda specialists,” and the company is called “Sweet Baby Inc 2.0.”
Some players in the comments, like FakeSephiros, stated that they fundamentally do not touch projects in which such people were involved in any way:
I absolutely refuse to touch any game that mentions that name. There are other projects they, unfortunately, participated in — for example, the Silent Hill 2 remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. [...] for me, such projects automatically become trash, just like Gears of War: E-Day. These people are one of the reasons why modern games today are ****.
Users also noticed that in Gears of War: E-Day, they don't allow mentioning certain political figures, such as “Trump.” However, in English, such a word exists and means “ace,” i.e., not an expletive, so this restriction is associated with the developers' specific political stance. This provoked disputes and calls like “keep politics out of games.”
Against this background, the creator of the original Gears of War, Cliff Bleszinski, spoke out. The developer simply reminded that the franchise had already touched upon political and social themes long before Gears of War: E-Day:
Did anyone forget that according to Gears of War lore, the war became so brutal that women were sent to “farms” for fertilization to produce more soldiers? And also, the Berserker is a female Locust, and that Locusts reproduce in a monstrous way? But yes, “keep politics out of games,” AM I RIGHT?!
Earlier, Remedy Entertainment studio found itself in a similar situation with Control Resonant. Then attentive users also paid attention to the credits — Hit Detection company was mentioned there. Nevertheless, the game's peak online in Steam exceeded 42 thousand players, which became a record for Remedy Entertainment on Valve's service.
