Recently, PC gamers remembered Bloodborne again. Enthusiasts have long learned to run the FromSoftware game using an emulator and even install various modifications to improve graphics and more. Now everything has reached the next level.
An enthusiast under the nickname deadinside28 said that he made a native Bloodborne port for Linux. He emphasizes that this is not a universal emulator:
The game's own x86-64 code runs natively, PS4 system libraries are replaced by a small runtime written for this game, and GPU operation is translated to Vulkan by a renderer based on shadPS4, heavily modified for Bloodborne — up to temporary upscaling with AMD FSR 3.1, FSR 4, and FSR 4.1.1.
Currently, the project status is “experimental, playable”. deadinside28 explained that the current version of the unofficial PC port of Bloodborne launches, saves can be loaded, and it “can be completed (Hunter's Dream and several Yharnam locations) with sound” and gamepad support. He has not yet completed the game entirely.
deadinside28 published the source code of the “bloodborne_pc” project in open access on GitHub. There is a nuance: the archive does not include copyrighted materials, i.e., players will need to provide their own Bloodborne dump (CUSA03173, v1.09) to play.
Bloodborne can be played on PC with an Intel Core i5-9400 level processor and an AMD RX580 graphics card.
