VCR83 is a psychological horror game about surveillance, where the player monitors cameras, searches for anomalies, and gradually realizes that the virtual assistant Pete knows too much about them.
During a shift, you need to monitor cameras in real-time and mark everything suspicious. For correct reports, the player receives tokens to unlock new levels and story parts, while a mistake can cost progress.
The developers have prepared four locations with their own cameras, anomalies, secrets, and story fragments. There are six modes: easy, normal, hard, real-time, random, and dark. They change the pace of events and the degree of trust in what is happening on the screen.
Special attention is paid to the virtual assistant Pete, who initially just helps during shifts, and then begins to monitor results, react to the player's actions, and show increasing interest in them. You can talk to him, ask questions, ask him to sing a song, or tease him. You can talk to him, ask questions, ask him to sing a song, or tease him.
After each level, a 3–5-minute gameplay scene called “Consequences” opens, allowing you to return to the location and see what happened after the cameras stopped recording.
