The creators of the global mod Olympus 2207, based on the Fallout 2 engine, are now preparing to launch a full-fledged new game called Olympus 2249. Recently, the Dieselship Studio team published a video diary dedicated to quests and navigation.
The developers immediately made it clear that they would not use hints, which some actively use in modern games — players will need to communicate with NPCs:
In Olympus 2249, there is no yellow paint on boxes and no glowing gas trail underfoot. Characters will tell you the way if you listen to them.
The developers are not going to hold the hero's hand: Olympus 2249 will not have markers or highlighted routes. All necessary information can be obtained from dialogues, and conversation records will be stored in the “organizer”.
Within cities, fast travel points will be available, so you won't have to walk through the entire city:
Locations are compact and often multi-tiered. The developers designed them so that “they wouldn't stretch along a long corridor for the sake of one conversation” and there is “almost no empty running around” in the game. Stashes are scattered throughout the locations, which are not highlighted, so attentive players will be rewarded.
Quests have consequences: they change the character's personal reputation, but some have a wider impact “up to the fate of an entire faction”. In dialogues, the main thing is “karma” and peaceful specialization; skill checks have been moved from dialogues to gameplay.
Sometimes tasks need to be solved personally by the player. As an example, the developers cited a scene with treatment: if the player wants to become a doctor, they will have to independently assess the symptoms and choose the appropriate medicine.
You can add Olympus 2249 to your Steam wishlist via the following link. The game is planned to launch in “early access” format on October 6, 2026. According to the developers, the project will remain in this status for 18 to 24 months.
