The Witcher 3 broke its online record and, it seems, set an anti-record on Steam due to the quality of the remaster
In late September, the remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released on consoles and PC. CD Projekt RED released it as a free update, which all current owners of the game received.
This update includes graphical and gameplay improvements. Many players had complaints about the picture quality in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster. Dissatisfied users went to complain on forums, as well as in Steam reviews. As a result, on the day of the remaster's launch alone — September 29 — the game received more than 1000 negative reviews. Over the past few days, a total of more than 1700 more have been left.
It seems that this is an anti-record for the number of negative reviews in such a short period of time; if we exclude the spring of 2022, when CDPR stopped selling games in Russia.
For comparison: in December 2022, when the next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released, Steam statistics recorded just over 2700 negative reviews for the period from December 1, 2022 to January 1, 2023 (the update was released in mid-December).
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt also has positive records. This weekend, the peak online exceeded 137 thousand players.
Currently, CD Projekt RED is working on patches for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster. Developers recently reported that players are sending a lot of requests to customer support.
