Xbox's New Feature Has a Serious Gap: Forza Is Not Supported

Forza was left out of Xbox's new feature for transferring disc games to a digital library due to licenses for real cars, brands, and music.

Xbox's new feature, which allows converting purchased disc versions of games into digital licenses, does not support any part of Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport.

The service immediately supported over 1500 old and new games, allowing owners of physical collections to play without a disc in the drive. However, fans of the car series faced an unpleasant limitation: even the recently released Forza Horizon 6 cannot be transferred to the digital library.

The probable reason is related to complex licensing agreements. Forza games use hundreds of contracts for rights to real cars, logos of tuning manufacturers, and musical compositions. The terms of such agreements often separately regulate physical media and digital distribution, so Microsoft cannot automatically issue digital licenses without reviewing the agreements.

Xbox representatives stated that the catalog of compatible games will expand over time. However, for car series, the prospects for such an update currently seem doubtful.
