Embark Studios is preparing for the imminent launch of the Frozen Trail update for Arc Raiders — the biggest update in the project's history. The creators of the extraction game have published a release trailer.
In a recent developer diary, the developers said that with the technologies in this promo video, players will finally be able to fully appreciate the acting performance of the actress playing Celeste.
The Arc Raiders team used motion capture technology for the first time, which allowed the developers to better convey facial details and more accurately reflect emotions.
Celeste's appearance has changed slightly — now she looks more like the actress playing her. After the update's release, the actress's real voice will match her real face for the first time. The Arc Raiders developers plan to continue improving technologies:
Diana Garder has been with us since the very beginning of Arc Raiders' development: she voiced Celeste's lines, breathing life into one of Speranza's central characters. However, Celeste's model never fully reflected the depth of Diana's acting. Celeste's limited expressive capabilities broke immersion for players: facial animation could not cope with conveying the tension and stories we want to tell. Sometimes high detail and dynamic facial expressions are critically important to emphasize the seriousness of the plot, and this is what held us back until recently.
The release of the Frozen Trail update for Arc Raiders is scheduled for October 8, 2026, on PC and consoles. On the same day, Embark Studios will make the game temporarily free on all platforms. In addition, the developers are going to soon test a full-fledged PvE game mode.
