Xbox head Asha Sharma spoke about this at an internal meeting with employees, a recording of which was obtained by Jez Corden of Windows Central. According to her, at the beginning of the year the situation was difficult: the number of players, time in the ecosystem, and revenues were declining, and the previous Game Pass strategy led the business into a “free fall.” Now, indicators have stabilized and positive sentiment towards the brand has grown by 30% over the year.
Microsoft will continue to invest in Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, the disc-to-digital program, and Xbox Play Anywhere. Game Pass should also become more flexible.
The main changes await the next generation:
We are moving to a family of devices in the tenth generation. There is no one device that fits all. Of course, we will primarily have an excellent console, but we also know that many players want to play on the go.
Microsoft will produce some devices itself, and for others, it will attract partners. The company is also developing a new operating system and simplifying requirements and APIs to make it easier for developers to release games simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S, Helix, and PC.
