Ubisoft will not follow Sony and will continue to release games on disc
Ubisoft will continue to release physical editions of games, despite Sony's plans to gradually abandon discs by 2028.
During the annual meeting with investors, Ubisoft CFO Frédérick Duguet stated that the company is not going to fully switch to digital sales and will keep discs.
At the same time, the publisher will decide the fate of a physical release separately for each project. The game's features, its audience, and target platforms are taken into account. Ubisoft notes that some genres are especially popular among players who prefer to collect discs, so abandoning this distribution channel is unprofitable.

According to the company, major releases, including the latest Assassin's Creed installments, get up to half of their sales in boxed versions in many key countries. For Ubisoft, abandoning such a share of revenue would be too risky a decision given the multi-million dollar costs of AAA games.
