PlayStation has a new problem: fake DualSense Edge modules are almost indistinguishable from the original

Replaceable sticks for DualSense Edge have become the object of a return scam: an unscrupulous buyer can return a fake to the store instead of the original, and it will go to the next customer.

Fake stick modules for PlayStation DualSense Edge have appeared on the market, which are almost indistinguishable from original Sony parts and can re-enter circulation after returns.

Replaceable modules allow you to replace a faulty stick without buying a new controller. As specialist Modyfikator89 warns, fakes are already so high-quality that the difference is difficult to notice even when checking functionality.

Returns pose a particular danger: a buyer can return a fake module to the store instead of an original one, after which it will be sold to the next customer.

Modyfikator89 has already discovered recurring signs by which fakes can be recognized and is working on an automatic verification system.

The situation also raises the question of Sony's possible reaction. The company could theoretically disable non-original modules or limit controller functionality. Some users may not even suspect that they have purchased a fake.
