Kill monsters and change the battlefield: Frostpunk publisher unveiled Volatiles

The player starts a run with a single cell and builds the arena themselves as they kill monsters. After each death, they find themselves in a secret laboratory.

11 bit studios will publish the dynamic roguelike Volatiles from the new studio Team Instant Defeat. Players will build the arena right during battles with hordes of aliens.

Each run begins with a single cell. By defeating enemies, the hero gains experience and unlocks new map fragments. The player decides how to arrange the arena: leave space for dodging, connect distant areas, or create narrow corridors. Weapons, first aid kits, and upgrades can be found on the cells, and their placement allows for useful combinations.

Death does not end the playthrough: the hero regains consciousness in a tank of icy water inside a secret laboratory. He does not remember how he got there, and the staff call what is happening “therapy.”

The plot is connected with the mysterious entity Mold, which shows the hero visions and fragments of memories. Between runs, he will have to uncover the truth about the laboratory and what is happening within his own mind. Volatiles will combine dynamic battles, arena construction, and a psychological story.
