Hacker who leaked GTA VI to be tried shortly before game's release

Earlier, the hacker underwent a course of compulsory treatment.

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Shortly before that — on November 9 — the trial of the hacker accused of hacking Rockstar Games studio and subsequently leaking studio materials is expected to begin.

Arion Kurtaj is alleged to have been one of the key members of the Lapsus$ group, which, as previously reported, exploited a vulnerability in the cybersecurity systems of several companies, including Rockstar. After several years of treatment in a closed facility, Kurtaj was deemed fit to stand trial.

Several years ago, Arion Kurtaj was deemed unfit to participate in a court hearing, so at that time, the jury did not determine whether he was guilty, but only considered whether he had committed the actions imputed to him. At that time, the jury found that he had committed actions related to 12 crimes.

An appeal followed, and the court ruled that evidence for six episodes should not have been admitted. However, the court concluded that this did not undermine the jury's findings, as the remaining evidence was sufficient. On this basis, the appeal was dismissed.

Meanwhile, a hacker (or group) under the nickname Cyberleek continues to leak Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay. Recently, he launched a poll for the next leak and also offered players to boost the value of his memecoin — as a 'reward,' he promises spicy leaks.
