Sony has not yet released Ghost of Yotei on PC. However, some players would like to play the new title from Sucker Punch Productions, so they are hoping for an emulator or an unofficial PC port.
There is a project called AnyPS5 — a tool for “automatically porting PS5 executables to Linux and Windows.” Currently, tech enthusiasts are trying to run Ghost of Yotei on PC and have achieved some success.
Recently, a user under the nickname Celegans12 reported that the world of Ghost of Yotei loaded for him in about 7 minutes (for comparison, it used to be 13 minutes). However, performance still leaves much to be desired, with a frame rate of approximately 3.4 frames per minute, i.e., about one frame every 17-18 seconds, so it is currently unplayable.
Celegans12 explained that performance is limited by the CPU part of the driver (approximately 17.6 seconds per frame):
Most of the time is spent on resource binding (about 10 seconds): approximately 16,600 textures are recreated every frame, and the image table with 16,386 entries is rebuilt every frame (5 seconds at a time). The texture cache is still too small for this world — this is the problem I will be working on now.
As a result, in Ghost of Yotei via AnyPS5, it is possible to transition from loading screens and the interface to rendering a 3D scene, but not yet to play. Work on the project continues.
