Earlier, Nintendo UK announced that new versions of consoles and controllers with user-replaceable batteries would appear in Europe. The changes are related to EU requirements coming into force next year.
Now, Nintendo Patents Watch has discovered FCC documents indicating the possible release of updated Joy-Con 2 in North America. It is possible that they will replace the current versions in other markets as well.
Similar information applies to the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller and the GameCube-style gamepad available in the Nintendo Switch Online catalog.
It is currently unknown whether the Switch 2 consoles themselves will change and whether new accessories will appear worldwide. Nintendo has not officially confirmed anything. If the information is correct, players outside of Europe will also be able to replace batteries themselves and use controllers longer.
