Sony patented a system that will allow viewers to control games during streams

Sony has patented a technology that will allow viewers to mark objects on the streamer's screen, send reactions with vibration, and even influence gameplay.

The patent “Adaptive screen share pointer and reactions during gameplay” describes a system with a cursor that viewers see on the player's screen. With it, for example, you can point to a boss's weak spot or suggest where to shoot. Stickers and reactions that cause vibration of the streamer's controller, VR headset, or phone are also provided.

Viewers may be allowed to perform special actions: activate levers or discover hidden items. Developers will be able to configure such features using an SDK.

A queue is provided for interaction: only one viewer will be able to control the cursor at a time, and the right will be transferred based on an activity point system. Sony is also considering virtual trophies for streamers and rewards for viewers.

However, the existence of a patent does not guarantee the appearance of the technology on PS5 or future consoles. Sony has not yet announced plans for its implementation.
