This is the Danger of Digital Distribution: Sony Hid God of War III Remastered After an Error

One pricing recalculation error allowed thousands of players to buy a classic for pennies, and Sony was left with no choice but to remove the game's page from the store while it deals with the consequences.

Sony temporarily removed God of War III Remastered from the PlayStation Store in several regions after a pricing error: in the Mexican store, the game was sold for only 9.99 pesos, about 50 cents.

The problem arose against the backdrop of changes in Sony's regional policy in some Latin American countries. The company is converting calculations from US dollars to local currencies to simplify purchases and make prices clearer.

However, in the Mexican PS Store, an error occurred when recalculating the cost of God of War III Remastered. The game became available at a price that was only a small fraction of its usual cost, even during major sales.

News of the almost free purchase quickly spread across social media, and players rushed to get the discount. Before Sony corrected the error, thousands of orders were placed at the reduced price.

To stop further losses, the company temporarily hid the game's page in several regions. This raised concerns that the classic project had been permanently removed from the PlayStation catalog.
