The remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released in late September on consoles and PC, was met with criticism. Players noted not only technical problems but also graphical bugs. There were also questions regarding lighting settings and some visual effects.
CD Projekt RED studied the feedback and began releasing patches. Recently, the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt introduced a major update 5.01, which contains numerous fixes. For example, a number of graphical improvements were made, including refined glow effects, tonal compression, character lighting, ray tracing, and path tracing.
Comparisons of the graphics began to circulate online, and feedback was shared — many people liked the updated version of the remaster.
CDPR released an update that significantly improves the graphics. Now the game looks like a real remaster.
Another player also published comparison screenshots. Some users noted that they no longer see a difference between bloom (glow effect) being on and off.
Community member CrazyDave48 explained that this is how it should be: "In previous comparisons, the difference seemed obvious because the bloom effect made everything, in my opinion, look washed out. It seems the developers have fixed this, and now the difference between the effect being on and off is very small and barely noticeable — as it should be."
The developers fixed not only the graphics in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster but also improved the user interface and corrected various bugs related to gameplay mechanics.
