Gears of War: E-Day Suffers DDoS Attacks - Even the Story Campaign Cannot Be Played Without Internet

Last weekend, Gears of War: E-Day users complained about long waits for online matches, crashes, and problems logging into the service. Developers confirmed that DDoS attacks on the game's network infrastructure were the cause.

Developers stated

Earlier today, some players experienced intermittent disconnections, login issues, and other service disruptions in Gears of War: E-Day. These issues were caused by DDoS attacks on our network services. Our teams continue to monitor the situation and take measures to mitigate the effects of the attacks. If significant changes occur, we will provide additional information. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The explanations did not appease fans. Players are outraged that due to the mandatory online connection, even the single-player campaign cannot be continued. Many believe that the story mode should work without internet.
