DLSS 5 may officially appear in older games - thanks to NVIDIA RTX Remix capabilities

This summer, modders were able to extract NVIDIA DLSS 5 files from an early version of the basketball simulator NBA 2K27. Soon, the new technology began to be integrated into various games — modern and not so modern — to see how the picture transforms.

NVIDIA recently announced an update for the RTX Remix tools, which are used by enthusiasts to create unofficial remasters. DLSS 5 technology is planned to be included in this package.

NVIDIA has published several examples of DLSS 5 in action in games. In the Fallout 4 RTX project, reflections on the helmet are improved, as well as shadows, and clothing is more detailed. In Mirror's Edge RTX, shadows and lighting were also improved.

NVIDIA clarified that modders will have access to the same controls as developers, meaning they will be able to customize effects and choose which objects DLSS 5 will affect and which to exclude from the technology's scope.

The release of the new version of NVIDIA RTX Remix with DLSS 5 support is scheduled for October 23, 2026. Simultaneously, a 'performance' mode for frame generation will be added to RTX Remix.
