On modified PS5s, an alternative store, Overdrive, for downloading games and add-ons for free, and the PSXBOX application for launching Xbox Cloud Gaming have appeared.
The Overdrive store resembles a regular digital store, where instead of prices, game sizes and user ratings are indicated. Battlefield 6, 007: First Light, Forza Horizon 5, and Black Myth: Wukong have been spotted in the catalog. The application also allows downloading DLC.
Another novelty is PSXBOX, a client for Microsoft's cloud service, which allows launching Xbox Cloud Gaming on a Sony console. The application supports 1080p resolution, 60 frames per second, and the DualSense controller. Users also have access to image settings and streaming parameters.
Recently, enthusiasts have been actively experimenting with modified PS5s: previously, they demonstrated launching games from PS2 and PS3, and now they have reached an alternative store and Xbox cloud service. However, the real capabilities and reliability of the new applications are yet to be verified.
