Sony Unveils New PS5 - All-Black Console to Launch in November

Sony has announced an all-black PS5, which will go on sale exclusively in Japan on November 19, 2026.

Sony has unveiled the PS5 Digital Edition Midnight Black Japanese Edition – an all-black version of the console, which will go on sale in Japan on November 19, 2026, for 55,000 yen (approximately $367).

Pre-orders will open on October 20 at select Japanese stores. The new product features a black casing in the style of Midnight Black accessories and an 825 GB SSD. The console comes without a disc drive, which can be purchased separately for 11,980 yen (approximately $80).

The main limitation is regional locking. The console is designed for the Japanese market and supports PlayStation accounts with the Japan region and Japanese system language. Sony has not yet announced plans to release this version in other countries.

Customers will also be able to take advantage of a special offer: by registering the console, they will have the opportunity to extend the standard warranty from one year to two. The offer is valid until March 31, 2027.
