The main World of Warcraft and Classic have long become a huge platform for various entrepreneurs who provide services or engage in real-money trading. Such people have also managed to join World of Warcraft: Forever, and now the developers have begun to fight the black market in this segment as well.
Recently, Blizzard Entertainment published an announcement and warned that it has begun restricting World of Warcraft: Forever players' access to the economy for participating in real-money trading — some users have already been penalized:
Some players have already encountered our new tool in the fight against real-money trading (RMT), also known as 'gold buying'. If your account is suspected of involvement in RMT — whether selling or receiving illegal profits — it may be temporarily restricted from accessing the economy. During the duration of this penalty, your access to trading, mail, guild banks, and the auction house will be restricted.
World of Warcraft: Forever developers clarified that this is a new system, so there is a risk of false positives:
If you are just playing normally, the probability of this restriction affecting your account is extremely low. If the restriction is applied, it will either be automatically lifted after an investigation of the actions that caused it and their recognition as false, or measures will be applied to your account if involvement in RMT is indeed confirmed.
The release of World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled for November 5, 2026.
