NVIDIA is preparing a major DLSS 5 update: Neural Rendering technology will become twice as fast, consuming 20% less video memory in 4K. Support will be added for NBA 2K27, Hogwarts Legacy, and Where Winds Meet.
The Neural Rendering model has been reduced by 24% – it now contains about 118 million parameters. GPU load has been cut by approximately half, and since its first presentation in March, the technology has become ten times faster.
The update will be released on October 16, 2026, and will first appear in NBA 2K27, on GeForce RTX 50 graphics cards, RTX Spark laptops, and in GeForce NOW. Hogwarts Legacy will receive DLSS 5 on November 5, and Where Winds Meet in late November. On October 23, the technology will also appear in RTX Remix to improve graphics in older games and modifications for Fallout 4 and Mirror's Edge.
NVIDIA has also started testing a new Performance Mode for frame generation – Preset C. It is available in the beta version of the NVIDIA App for RTX 40 and RTX 50. On RTX 5060, the performance increase for frame generation can reach 35%, although this will come at the cost of a slight reduction in image quality. The mode is compatible with Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.
