Disco Elysium co-author revealed Red Rooster - a new RPG with an emphasis on physics system

The hero will have to deal with mysterious arsons.

Recently, one of the key authors of the acclaimed Disco Elysium, Argo Tuulik, presented his project called Red Rooster. The new game is positioned as an “incendiary role-playing game” with an emphasis on a physics system that combines the best features of “thoughtful RPGs with a well-developed world and the genes of physically accurate immersive sims.

Players in Red Rooster take on the role of Redrick Roost — a “white-collar” prisoner serving a life sentence. Suddenly, the protagonist is appointed as a fire investigator, and a mathematician becomes his partner. Together, they will have to investigate a mysterious series of arsons. If the hero copes with the task, he will receive a pardon:

A week before his parole hearing, Redrick is approached by a high-ranking official from an obscure government agency with an offer: infiltrate the local fire station under the leadership of your brother and identify the serial arsonist who is suspected of being hidden among their ranks.

The game's events unfold in a “world of magical realism, similar to ours, but still separate.” According to the author, the world is inspired by a combination of “the sun-drenched 1980s Yugoslav Riviera and the Eastern Bloc” — it blends influences from Ottoman culture, Scandinavian social democracies, and the colonial Dutch Empire.
