GTA VI influenced Rockstar's future. Will players not have to wait so long?

Rockstar plans to accelerate the development of future games through a new engine, tools, and team experience.

Rockstar Games expects to accelerate the development of future games thanks to a new graphics engine, tools, and team experience gained during the creation of GTA VI.

Development lead Phil Hooker stated:

The engine, tools, and team we've built on this project will allow us to work faster. I'm confident that we can build on the existing foundation, expanding game worlds horizontally rather than vertically, and create more engaging content.

Art Director Aaron Garbut added:

We changed a lot at a fundamental level as part of the project. But now the work is done, and we're not going to dismantle it all.

This approach may resemble the release of Vice City and San Andreas after GTA III, when Rockstar developed an existing foundation instead of creating technology from scratch. However, the executives did not specify what the studio's next game would be. It could be GTA VII, Red Dead Redemption 3, LA Noire, or a completely new series.

Garbut also noted that 30 years of work have helped the team develop a common understanding and accumulate experience, allowing them to find solutions faster.
